Contemporary art in a place where hundreds of people pass through every day

A Hotel Garzonpláza Art & Business Hotel has created a unique art space in one of Győr’s busiest locations. Our aim is to provide a worthy platform for contemporary artists who wish not only to exhibit their works but also to sell them within a professionally supported system that reaches an engaged audience.

The hotel hosts events on a monthly basis solo or group exhibitions of contemporary visual art, where, as part of each exhibition, approximately 60 works of painting may be presented.

What makes this exhibition space so special?

Garzonpláza is not a traditional gallery, but a vibrant, constantly active, high-traffic hotel space.

The hotel With its 71 rooms, it is one of Győr’s largest four-star hotels, which is in an excellent location: right next to the Győr Plaza a the county hospital and McDonald’s  It is situated in the vicinity of the junction of four districts.

The hotel is easily accessible, with a multi-storey car park nearby, and its guest base is constantly changing and diverse: business travellers, families, local residents, event guests and visitors passing through the area can all view the works on display.

The artworks can be viewed between 0 and 24 hours

One of the exhibition’s greatest advantages is that the artworks can be viewed outside of fixed opening hours.

The Garzonpláza exhibition space: Open 24 hours a day, every day of the week,
can be viewed free of charge, and he naturally mingles with the public in the hotel’s bustling communal areas.

This is a particularly valuable opportunity for artists, as their works are displayed not in a closed space, but in a lively, constantly bustling hospitality setting.

One of the programme’s key benefits is that, for the artist, taking part does not entail any financial risk at this stage.

The costs of organising, running and promoting the exhibition will be covered by the organisers, the Garzonpláza Ltd.undertake to do so.

The artist is only obliged to pay commission if a sale is successful. This means that:

    • there is no advance exhibition fee,
    • there is no rent,
    • there are no marketing costs,
    • Commission is only paid on sales.

This model creates a shared interest: the organisers, the auction house and the artist all share the aim of ensuring that the works are successfully exhibited and sold.

We ask applying artists to include in their letter a brief professional introduction about themselves and their career to date. In this introduction, it is worth touching upon the following points:

  • how long have they been involved in painting,
  • Where have they had the opportunity to exhibit so far, and what have been their most significant exhibitions?
  • what professional achievements they have made, if any
  • whether they have received any awards or honours, if applicable
  • approximately how many works make up their current body of work,
  • whether they have their own website or online portfolio where their art and works can be explored in more detail.
  • Do they have their own gallery where their works are on permanent display, and where is it located?

It is important to us that we really get to know the artists who apply and their work.
