Contemporary art, personal encounters, meaningful conversations

A Collectors’ Afternoon Tea A monthly contemporary art event held in Győr, which we have organised for art collectors, art lovers and those interested in contemporary painting in Western Transdanubia.

Our aim is to create an opportunity, within an elegant, welcoming and inspiring setting, to gain a deeper understanding of contemporary art, to meet artists in person, and to build a discerning community of collectors.

The event’s Hotel Garzonpláza Art & Business Hotel It is home to monthly rotating contemporary art exhibitions, which are open to visitors 24 hours a day, free of charge.

Why was the Collectors’ Afternoon Tea organised?

The true value of contemporary art often lies not merely in what can be seen on the canvas. Behind every work lies the artist’s personality, way of thinking, life journey, beliefs and the inner world from which the work is born.

The aim of the Collectors’ Afternoon Tea is to bring this world closer to collectors and anyone with an interest in it.

We would like contemporary art not to be seen as a distant, difficult-to-understand phenomenon, but rather to become a personal experience, a conversation and a shared experience.

That is why, on each occasion, we invite the artist currently exhibiting at the hotel to come and personally present their artistic philosophy, creative journey, sources of inspiration and the background to the works on display.

What kind of experience does the event offer?

The Collectors’ Tea this afternoon is neither a traditional presentation nor a formal auction.

This is an elegant, intimate yet welcoming afternoon of art, where participants can meet the current exhibiting artist over tea, soft drinks and cakes whilst meeting the artist currently exhibiting, exploring the works on display, asking questions, chatting and gaining a deeper insight into the world of contemporary art.

During the event, participants:

  • they can meet the artist currently exhibiting in person,
  • they can listen to the artist’s talk on his own creative philosophy,
  • they can gain an insight into the background to the works on display,
  • they can chat informally about art and collecting,
  • can view the current hotel exhibition,
  • find out about online bidding options,

••they can get in touch with other people interested in contemporary art.

A talk by the artist currently exhibiting

The centrepiece of every Collectors’ Tea Afternoon is a personal talk by the artist currently exhibiting.

The artist presents:

  • how his creative career began,
  • what shapes his artistic thinking,
  • what topics, experiences and questions inspire you,
  • what techniques and forms of expression he uses,
  • what is the conceptual background behind the works on display at the hotel,
  • how he sees his own place in contemporary art.

The aim is for participants not only to see the pictures, but also to understand the artistic world behind the works.

Dates of the meetings

The Collectors’ Afternoon Tea is a regular monthly event.

Date:
on the Wednesday of the first week of every month, from 5.00 pm
